This beer was brewed by Stoup for the 4th anniversary of Pine Box. Pine Box calls it a "Belgian Imperial Stout". It's much closer to a traditional Russian Imperial Stout than it is to a classic Belgian Strong Dark Ale, as listed here on BA. The predominant flavors are the dark roasted malts of a good imperial stout. There's quite a bit of coffee. The Belgian side of this beer shows up as a bit of fruit, and some sweetness, more than a typical RIS, but it's still a good ways from BSDAs that I've had. It finishes dry.
It's a nice beer, but not anywhere in the ethereal realm of Third Nail, the 3rd anniversary brew for Pine Box. Fifth Nail, anyone?
