This is a big, bold, muscular porter built on a base of Maris Otter, Munich, 2-row, chocolate and crystal malts. It's rich and malt-forward with hints of chocolate and caramel. It's so impressively robust, you can almost hear it say "c'mon, feel my muscles". Generally that would be annoying, but in this case, just do it. We think you'll be impressed.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, light coffee and a hint of caramel. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, espresso coffee, bakers chocolate and a touch of caramel. Lingering coffee and well roasted malt finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A rich, quite coffee forward, semi-dry porter. The coffee notes are so clear and taste like a rich drip or even espresso pour that I would have thought actual coffee was in this one. The chocolate notes are very nice as well. Moderate char in the roast adds to the coffee flavors. Really nicely done and one of the better porters I've had in a while.
