Had on tap at the brewery.
On arrival an off white 1.5 finger head was present that slowly became rocky but has decent retention. Body is a reddish amber within carbonation. Some lacing forms.
Aroma has some bready toffee malts on the front followed by a light but American amber style hopping. Pretty standard, but clean lightly hoppy and malty. Very balanced with a clean English ale yeast thing going on. Lightly fruity and sweet with a slight hoppy kick.
Taste follows the aroma very closely but comes with a bit more balance and malt sweetness. The hops provide a nice bitterness that ties it together and brightens things up a bit. Very nice and again clean.
Feel is bigger than it actually is with a nice and long finish. A nice malty mouth coating effect is felt on the palate. Not quite a refresher but a nice compliment to a hearty meal or sitting in front of a fireplace.
Overall this is a very nice and very balanced amber ale. Clean malty and lightly hoppy without being too sweet, but carrying just enough toffee to make this feel like a nice malty beer.
