Our imperial pumpkin ale is brewed using hickory smoked Ohio pie pumpkins, brown sugar, and English barley. We then aged Pi in a blend of maple syrup and Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels for a year. The beer is finished with vanilla, fresh ginger, cinnamon, Ancho chilis, and nutmeg. This crowd favorite was a long time in the making, but is oh so worth the wait!

12 ounce can, packaged OCT 19 2022, thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours a reddish/amber color with about an inch light tan head that stayed around a little while. Good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like brown sugar, smoked malt, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and bourbon. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also the addition of some bready malt and smoked chilies too. Definitely more of a smoked vegetal pepper flavor and not a spicy one. There's a lot going on here but in a good way! Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of soft carbonation. I thought this one was pretty good, but recommend it more to those who like smoked barrel aged pumpkin ales. I like their regular Pi, but this version is better to me!

12 FL OZ can
Served in a tulip glass
This beer pours rust colored with some copper highlights. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
Smoke is the first thing I smell and just about the only thing that I smell. I get light pumpkin and spices.
Big smoke flavor as well. I get hints of maple and pumpkin pie. Light vanilla. Flavors open up a little more as it warms.
Medium bodied with a smooth, thin mouthfeel
I really like the smoked aspect of this beer. It really shines as it warms releasing all the vanilla and pie spice flavors.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little ale pours a clear
ruby tinged amber with a nice head of kahki foam that settles to a
thick ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some nice lacing. Nose of
campfire smoke, pumpkin, bourbon, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Flavors
follow but surpass the nose with a fine presentation of smoked pumpkin,
bourbon, vanilla, light oak, char hints, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sweet
caramel. Nice mouth feel; medium body, smooth, light soft carbonation,
and a mellow bourbon and spiced smoked finish that is medium dry.
Overall, while I am NOT a pumpkin beer fan, this one is pretty decent.
Like a cross between a fest, a pumpkin, and a Rauchbier. Unique and
solid for the style.
Cheers
