Thanks to DonnieT79 for this one, from the recent NBS BIF #11. 8oz bottle (packaged on 1/31/20) poured into 14oz teku. Poured the anticipated solid black color with just a thin cap of brown head that quickly dissipated into a thin ring, and left no lacing.
The aroma was maple upfront, but not overpoweringly so, with the base beer following. After that came the wine and wood aspects.
Very similar on the tongue, just better defined. The maple still stayed subdued, while the wine and wood stood out a bit more. The base beer supported everything nicely. Surprisingly, there was no alcohol heat.
The body was as one would expect; full, smooth, even, and had a sticky-sweet finish.
Drinkability was very good, I would have easily knocked off a 12ozer of this.
Overall, a very nice brew. Well done. Certainly a must-try if you can.

8 ounce bottle, packaged on 01/31/20. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention is decent, and there's a small amount of lacing. The brew smells like port, dark fruit, maple, oak, burnt/charred malt and cocoa. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some dark bready flavors. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Drinks easy enough for being 13%. I thought this was a good port barrel aged brew, definitely worth picking up! $6.99 a bottle.

First off, I LOVE that this is an 8oz bottle.
Look is thin but decent frothy head.
Smell is alcohol, raisins, sour oak, white wine (zinfandel?), and more ethanol. Meh
Taste starts with milk chocloate/cocoa. Follows with very, very, very oakeyness. Theres some berry and a LOT of alcohol as the initial chocolate fades away. Finishes with a bitter bakers chocolate, tart grapes and loads more alcohol.
Feel is bigger than I anticipated. Good not great.
Overall mostly a letdown and will not be revisiting.
Edit - ended up drain pouring the majority of this. It wasnt necessarily drain pour bad I simply didnt much like it and preferred the spend the calories and alcohol on something else.
