For this variant we aged our maple stout in imported Moscatel barrels for 18 months. We then conditioned the beer on wild Thai bananas and toasted walnuts with a dash of vanilla and nutmeg.

8 ounce bottle, packaged 01/25/21. Served in a chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that didn't stick around for too long. Not much lacing, either. I like the aroma, the brew smells like Moscatel/dark fruit, bananas, walnuts, roasted malt and some nutmeg. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some maple, dark bread and burnt/charred malt flavors. The maple and Moscatel flavors stand out to me, but they don't overpower all the others. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's syrupy and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew a lot, bought this one a couple weeks ago so it seems there's still some out there although this was the only one I remember being on the shelf. Not sure if Wolf's Ridge is still slowly releasing some or if it's something the store I bought this at is doing. Either way, I think I'd buy another bottle of this if I got the chance as I think it's aged well. Recommend this more to people who like maple and Moscatel!

Served on draft in a small snifter. Dark and oily pour with a lighter colored, thin head. Sweet banana and spice on the nose. Similar initial taste. Soft feel and very sweet. Accurate in name as taste is also nutmeg forward with a banana forward nose. Moscatel Barrel is present but seems to just make it sweeter. Overall I enjoyed it but would prefer less sweetness.
