Canned on 4/21/21. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a glowing burnt golden with some haze; fluffy off-white head that falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are malt forward with lots of breads. Some caramel as well. Mild hints of citrus. The aromas form an identity as it slightly warms. The flavors have are malt forward as well, but the hops definitely come through as well. Solid bitterness to go with a solid malt backbone. More caramel. More breads and grains. Some orange and grapefruit in the mix. Subtle hints of pine and rye as well. Mild warmth in the finish, but the alcohol is ultimately well hidden. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.
This is a solid DIPA. It might be malt forward, but the hops definitely do their thing. It's pretty clean and surprisingly refreshing as well. It's nothing too crazy, but it's still pretty enjoyable and fun to drink. It's somewhat unique for the style, which I appreciate. It being a little different takes this one to the next level. Not bad at all. I do like it.
