Our brewmaster has been longing to use Calvados barrels for years. This elusive style of Apple Brandy is aged in French oak and must hail directly from France. We aged Dire Wolf in the barrel for one year.

8 ounce bottle, packaged on 09/20/21 stamped on the label. Served in a Wolf's Ridge Dire Wolf glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like brandy, roasted malt, molasses, bittersweet chocolate and dark fruit. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak and earthy flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's coating and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good brew, definitely worth picking up especially if you like brandy barrel aged beers and/or the other Dire Wolf variants! Only complaint was that the bottle wasn't bigger!

Pours pretty dark, quite thick, aggressive pour yields no head. Syrupy. Great barrel aroma! I get barrel, boozy, chocolate. Flavor is chocolate malt, brandy barrel, oak, sweet apple. Light bitter espresso finish. Minimal carbonation creates a creamy texture. Overall a really delicious BA imperial stout, love the 250ml format!!!!
