16 months ago we brewed Coffee Cherry Vanilla Dire Wolf. Then laid some down to rest in bourbon barrels. Finally, after many years of wishing to barrel age this beer, our Brewmaster has made dream reality. Bright dark roast coffee from One Line pairs beautifully with Ugandan vanilla and Michigan tart cherries. Cheers to waiting for the right moment to shine!

It's St. Paddy's day and I'm finally opening this. Why not, I guess.

Pours dark, practically black. Minimal tan head that disappears quickly. Nose of juicy stone fruit and coffee. Both are noticeable. Plenty of vanilla perched on some toasty malts. Taste follows. The cherry is very up front. The vanilla and coffee are right there underneath it, but the malty, bourbon backbone is strong. Each aspect is quite distinct. It does have a woody, earthy quality. I can see some people thinking the cherry is a tad medicinal, though, but I think this is complex and very tasty. It is quite smooth, fairly carbonated, creamy, Chocolately quality to it as the glass goes on. Gonna need more of this one.

22 ounce bottle, packaged May 2022. Wolf's Ridge website says this is 12.5% but the label says 10.8%. Served in a Dire Wolf chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like coffee, cherry, vanilla, burnt/charred malt, bourbon and some dark fruitiness. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with the addition of some oak, earthy and dark bready flavors too. There's a lot going on here but it's pretty tasty, and no one flavor overpowers the others. Barrel character is noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a really good overall brew, it's one of the best Dire Wolf variants I've tried! Definitely recommend this one.
