Today we tip our hat to the boldest and most elusive of all otters! The venerated Lord Maris is layered with the finest imported malts and boiled for 8 hours, carefully fermented, then aged for over 18 months in Blanton's Bourbon Barrels and finished with Ugandan Vanilla Beans.

Cracking open another big gun. All right. This one is cola colored - if not for the aroma of alcohol (or is that anticipation), it might be confused for a cold one of the other variety. Not much head, but a nice visual of bubbles. The taste is quite a blend up front; my mind is too far gone to distinguish all the temptresses hitting it all at once. There is a lot of fruit - dark stone fruits and raisins - up front as it hits your tongue. Swallowing gets you all of the bourbon, vanilla, a lot of that caramel desserty stuff. It has a bit of a woody, oaky, malty quality to it. It is, of course, very good. Big but smooth sipper.

The smell... the smell is the same as the taste, I think. Harder to define for me, but there. It's got that brown sugary, desserty quality.

Had on tap. Pitch brown opaque body with a tan cap that quickly settles into a ring. Smell captures those beautiful blanton's barrels with gooey caramel and molasses, oak, earthy char, and of course bourbon, with vanilla, dark fruit, and barley rounding out. Taste thrusts the dark fruit, bourbon, caramel, and molasses into the spotlight, vanilla, oak and barley round out in a rich way. Feel is warm and massive, yet smooth, decently refined and leans heavy
