We aged Dire Wolf in Tawny Port barrels for 18 months before transferring it into Cognac barrels used to finish George Dickel Bourbon for an additional 21 months. Our Imperial Stout has been fortified by the flavors of two wine derivatives and whiskey to create a truly unique and one of a kind beer - we couldn’t make this again if we tried!

Pours black. Didn't get much, if any head, on this one. A bit of light brown lacing. Lovely smell of wood, malt, chocolate, dark fruit, and alcohol. Taste follows - stout with a wine funk. It tastes deep of spirits and is buoyed by the port. The warming sensation of the alcohol really creeps up on you! A full, rich, luxurious draught. Gets more leathery with tobacco and cocoa notes as I go. Full but smooth, a touch sweet.
Very easy to drink. Another winner from WR.

Happy Valens-beer! This Valentines brew between me and the Little Lady
pours from the 8 oz bottle in a snifter a blackish brown with a moderate head of
brown foam that settles to a thin ring, thin clumping layer, and sports some
nice light lacing and some nice legs. Nose of bourbon, oak, vinous cognac,
port, dark roasted malts, molasses, dark cocoa, and vanilla. Flavors
find a place in our hearts with rich cognac, port, dark cocoa, dark
coffee, dark fruits, oak, bourbon, and vanilla. With warmth tobacco
and leather appear as does dark raisin and even more dark fruits.
Mouth feel is full, smooth, rich, coating, moderately slick, warming,
faint to no carbonation, and a moderately sweet and balanced
finish that is meidum dry.
Overall, this one would be wonderful to lay down for a few years.
A true milestone to a fantastic brewery!
Cheers

Wolf's Ridge is one of my favorite breweries to browse when stopping off in Ohio. This blend was a bit different than the usual stouts I get from them but it was pretty well done. It had a funk to it, with a sweet and tangy finish. The booziness is hidden as it creeps up throughout the pour. Cheers to the wolf.

8 ounce bottle, packaged FEB 2023. Served in a Dire Wolf chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch or so tan head that stuck around a little while. There's a small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like dark fruit, roasted malt, cognac, port, roasted malt, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak, dark bread, whiskey and burnt/charred malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's smooth, slick and a bit syrupy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a pretty good overall brew, definitely one of the better Dire Wolf variants I've tried!
