Very dark brown, slightly burgundy where the light strikes at the bottom of the glass. Tall off-white to tan head, bubbly, thick, and creamy in appearance. Spicy, earthy aroma, with smokiness and dark fruits, nutty. Nice initially creamy mouth feel. Smokey and earthy taste, with a nicely bitter finish. A well-done ale, enjoyable. Great beer for an evening with friends at the "pub".

Pours a dark brown, dark mahogany colour. Smells like dark caramel, roasted malts, sweet malts, with a little smokiness. Tastes like it smells, sweet malts, dark malts, and an underlying smokiness that compliments the caramel malts.

Poured a clear, golden color with bronze highlights and a small, khaki colored head. There was minimal lacing. It smelled malty and grassy. It had a biscuity malt taste with some grassy and earthy hops. It was crisp and sharp with a dry finish.

Aroma of smoke, dark fruit and caramel - nice but a titch mild. The taste is more assertive, with a decent caramel and dark fruit backbone, but a smoky, spicy finish that is spectacular. A little thinner than expected, but quite creamy and smooth. Very nice overall.

L: Pours brilliant auburn with garnet highlights under a 1” off-white foam column that dissipates fairly fast.
S: Rich spicy malt, traces of caramel, a hint of anise to cola, light peat and smoke.
T: Rich malt flavors with lightly sweet kettle sugars balanced with a gentle bitterness. Some grainy, malty spice, a hint of nuts, a trace of caramel, peat smoke and slight drying on the finish. Nice balance between sweet, hop bitterness and grain.
F: Creamy with medium full body and medium low carbonation. Very slight grainy astringency.
O: Not a big beer but a very drinkable one.
