16oz can - a new recipe (!)
This version has chocolate added, along with coffee and vanilla, and all this is soaked in whisky barrels. Even barrel-aged it's only 4.3% ABV now. But it looks great, dark with a mocha cap of foam, smells of the adjuncts, but the flavors don't really mesh unfortunately; it smells like an ashtray. It is crisp and kinda hoppy, with a slightly "green" taste I almost never find in a stout like this. Very interesting flavor that is pleasant to sip on. Unlike the mess that was the smell, this is very enjoyable
A great beer when you consider how jam-packed with flavor it is at only 4.3%. It's quite impressive. Another reviewer mentioned mint, if you added mint to this it would taste exactly like a Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie.. it already tastes like one - just minus the mint

The contrast of the sweet aroma and the bitter coffee flavor makes for an interesting combination. I can’t tell if they are cooperating or competing. Overall, this is a good but not great beer. I’d drink it again if it was immediately available, but I wouldn’t drive across town seeking it out specifically.

This beer pours a deep brown with a large and vigorous mocha head. The aroma features big somewhat roasty coffee, milk chocolate, and sweet vanilla candy. The flavor is a bit drier, with coffee, caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla, and a roasty malt finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with copious and voluminous carbonation. Overall it is ok, but the contrast between the quite sweet nose and bitter, roasty body is a bit odd, as is the very intense carbonation.

Pours clear dark brown with an enormous mocha head that gradually recedes leaving generous lacing. Aroma is dark roasted malts, coffee and faint chocolate. Flavor is a tad sweet, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and roasted malt. Feel is on the lighter side of medium bodied. Overall a decent beer.

Aroma is almost minty, definitely chocolate, vanilla, coffee, sweet and slightly roasty. Dark black color with hints of brown where the light reflects off the bottom of the glass. Tall tan head with large bubbles that recedes disappointingly quickly to a thin ring. Not a lot of lacing (none, actually). Thick chewy mouth feel. Taste is roasted malts with mint, vanilla, almond, and chocolate. Little bittering initially, but a nice balancing bitter taste in the finish and aftertaste. Nice mixture of hints of sweet flavors from the vanilla and almond with a dry finish. As the beer warms, the almond tends to become too much, though. Is it possible to have cloying while bitter? OTOH, there is an occasional wonderful roasty nuttiness.
