440ml can from Centra, Belfast (£3.50):
Jet black & thick with a thin, tan brown head that's patchy with bubbles round the sides. Roasted malts & faintly smoky on the nose, some chocolate sweetness too. It's creamy & smooth with a lot of chocolate & coffee flavours the strongest with some light caramel & smokey touches too.

look: giant bubbly tan coloured head, bubbles cascading down turning darker as they reach the liquid, is a very dark shade of brown, can just about make out some light passing through it.
smell: smells quite nice, roasty toasty stout aroma, brown bread, quite fruity, redcurrant, plum, raisin, nice sweetness, nutty, treacle, molasses, smells good.
taste: that’s quite nice that, really smokey, wood fire, burned toast, tobacco, oaky, earthy, coffee, brown bread, still that sweet fruit flavour there, lot of raisin, caramel and treacle, medium bitterness on the finish, smokey and sweeter flavours linger, good stuff.
feel: medium bodied, light carbonation, lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue, very drinkable stout.
overall: quite a good FES, tasty stuff from kinnegar, one of the great irish breweries.

Pours very dark brown. Smells of roasted grains and coffee are most dominant, with hints of chocolate malt. Very burnt grain taste, bitter, coffee grounds, slightly sweet malts. There's a slight creaminess to it, despite the bitterness. Lingering burnt grains taste.
