Poured into a mini-pilsner style Cast Brauerei glass out of a 0.75 ltr bottle purchased from the Brauerei in Stuttgart.
APPEARANCE – Completely opaque dark chocolate brown in color. Thick foamy, sticky light brown head -- dissipates slowly leaving nice lacing along the sides of the glass.
SMELL – Extremely faint sweet and boozy aroma.
TASTE – VERY mild chocolaty caramel w/ a light alcohol burn and bitter finish.
MOUTHFEEL – Medium body with light carbonation.
OVERALL – A bit disappointing -- the hang tag label boasts of this being a 'Special Limited Edition' w/ double the hops, double the malt and 120 bitterness units. Neither the hops nor the malt particularly stand out. It's a decent beer and one that I'd drink again if given a bottle, but not one I'd likely seek out again.
