A twist on the longstanding Barnstormer Favorite, Smoked Billy Bishop Brown Ale is Light to dark brown, but relatively clear if visible in light. The Smoked up Bishop has a moderate off-white to tan head.

The aroma is malty-sweet, with a rich, caramel or toffee-like character ending with light smoke. Very lightly fruity, with notes of dark fruits such as plums and/or raisins. The Smoked Bishop has little to no hop aroma.

The Smoked Bishop has a taste of caramel- or toffee-like malty sweetness on the palate that is lasting into the finish with a light smoke trail. There is still a dark fruit complexity mixed with balanced but not overpowering smoke essence. Low to no hop bitterness.

Bottle: Poured a clear light brown ale with a nice large off-white foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramelized with light smoke notes is enticing. Taste is a nice mix of smokey notes with some caramelized malt with subtle notes of residual sugar notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Nice session with light smoke notes that could have been more prominent.

Limited smoked release of their Billy Bishop Brown Ale.
Bottle into tulip.

A- Dark brown pour, some ruby highlights. BOOMING tight bubbled, creamy light tan head. Chunky lacing around the glass as the head dissipates.

S- Dark stone fruits, raisins, dates, figs, some brown sugar and vanilla. The smoke is pretty subdued. It takes a back seat to the base beer.

T- Base beer beams through with raisins and figs. Not nearly as much brown sugar or vanilla as I was expecting. The smoke is very minimal. Definitely there but it doesn't sock you in the mouth like most smoked beers do. I like this amount of smoke, anything more and I find it off putting.

M- Light body, fairly thin.
