600ml bottle poured into a pint glass. I'm assuming this is the Pacific Jade version as it's the only one that isn't in retired status on here as of writing, but there is nothing on the label stating the type of hop used.
L: Pours a deep amber colour that looks awesome. I'm used to double IPAs being a bit darker in colour but this is quite drastic. The head is super thick with great retention and lacing.
S: Caught my attention right away, I get white grape and pear which is quite different from the typical tropical notes of American IPAs. Maybe it has something to do with this Pacific Jade hop? Very little hop presence in the nose.
T: Follows the nose with the sweet fruit but it's lacking in hops to balance it out which makes it a bit sickly sweet. Kind of a let down. Some bitterness lingers in the aftertaste but I'm shocked this is 94 IBU.
F: Full bodied with good carbonation, which is to be expected at this ABV.
O: With some more hops and maybe some more citrus flavours to balance out the sweetness this would be a fantastic IIPA. Instead it's merely OK.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops with some bitter notes is pleasant enough. Taste is a mix of citrusy hops with subtle fruity notes and a bitter aftertaste with a distinctive malt backbone. Body is full with good carbonation. Not bad bit not sure I get the New Zealand hops notes I was really looking forward to.
