First Class Lager

a really fine can of lager here, i liked this a whole lot. it has almost no hops at all to it that we can appreciate, but the grain and the yeast are way more flavorful than in most yellow lagers, and i found this to be both drinkable and interesting. i thought it might have a little rye in it or something, as there is some peppery earthiness to the finish like pale rye might contribute. there is also a neat yeast element, not quite funky but not overly cleaned up either, almost like a clean saison or belgian pale flare to this. i like the apparent rawness of the grain, its earthy and unique without being sweet. there is an almost doughy character to it, like yeast in free rise, its cool, but then its cold conditioned and crisp at the end when i drink it. high carbonation keeps it real refreshing, and the interplay between the malt and the yeast is excellent. my first beer from these guys but a really compelling lager. i have been more and more into the non pils types lately, and this really works in that context. highly refreshing, way underrated.
