Good design is aesthetic. Unobtrusive. Honest.

German product designer Dieter Rams developed the 10 Principles for Good Design, and in honor of his 90th birthday, we're applying them to beer. For this German-style Pils, we use one hop (Liberty) and one malt (Baronesse) both local, because good design is "less, but better." Prost, Dieter.

Soft and light golden body with very mild haze; incredibly sublime slow-rising carbonation, dense; big, billowy, sculpted, white head, thick, sticky blobs and streaks of foam coat the glass. Wonderfully simple and balanced smell; light cereal grain with a touch of floral and earthy hop character. The taste includes light biscuit-like malt flavor with a light-to-moderate hop bitterness; light ester presence in the background. Medium-light body; soft; mild dryness.

This exquisite little beauty is basically a SMaSH (single hop and single malt) pilsner using Liberty hops and Baronesse malt. The brewers excelled at the craft with this beer and follows along the lines of the philosophy of Dieter Rams (the beer is dedicated to him) and his design philosophy of unobtrusive simple honesty. Simple, clean, tasty.
