Collab w/ Stillwater. Our brewer’s first Stillwater experience was a bottle of Cellar Door in 2012 in Soda Springs, NY…a memory that was implanted using sage in beer. We HAD to see what that Saison (Cellar Door) would taste like as a lager…lower the alcohol, pull a bit of Citra from it but keep it dry – we gotta say, we really love what the sage did in this wheat heavy (50%) unfiltered lager. Also, since we’re basically a Keller-style brewery, why not rename it as “Keller Door”…brilliant!

This beer is gross. No definitive flavor profile, clashing acidity and aromas. Soury sweetness from a citrus flavor, not my bag.

amazing beer, and concept for a beer, a collaboration with stillwater, who of course is famous for the sage saison cellar door, which i was an early adorer of. now they have combined that concept with what must be a a hoppy unfiltered lager from lowercase, not a blend i dont think, but a merger of ideas from other beers, super cool idea for a collaboration, and i love the name. wish i had more than a single can of this. the beer is bright yellow and rather hazy, looks wheaty right off the hop, high headed, airy and white, looks belgian, can conditioned possibly, very active and lasting. the nose is real complex, lager yeast and the bitterness of the old world hops, the herbal sage and the freshness of the citra, distinctive white wine notes, earthy wheat, green pear and green apple, subtle cilantro or something, lime, and minerals, lots going on! its amazingly cohesive in the flavor, sage is one of many flavors and i think it makes sense how hoppy this is, really the sage and the hops work perfectly, soft white grape notes from the hallertau blanc, lime zest and spiciness from the saaz, and a lemon curd thing from the citra, all so cool with the earthy sage. sturdy wheat base on this, plenty of lager yeast character, faint tang to it late, light bitterness, smoothed out texture and rushing carbonation, dry finish. i love everything about this, so well done and such a good concept, the hop selection is perfect for the sage, the lagering is excellent, and it has some mass to it being unfiltered. elite beer here, what craft is all about, great collaboration!
