Had this on 2016-08-05 at the brewery on-tap.
A - Opaque dark brown with a short tan head and mild- moderate lace.
S - Medium roasted grain, mild smoke, bit of chocolate. Pleasant. Not real strong.
T - Bock-like complex malt with mild smoked peat, very light char, dark chocolate. Tons of flavor.
M - Light-medium body and carbonation. Pretty thin but appropriate for the style. Finishes dry.
O - Easy and tasty to drink. Complexity increased as it warmed. Well done.
Notes: Chad Reiker brewed a 125-year-old family recipe from the Reiker Star Brewery here in downtown Lancaster, PA (long since closed). Of interest, the Beer Busters podcast is taking place right now in conjunction with the release of this beer. Give a listen. It should be available in about a week.
