Tasted on tap at Fresco II, a restaurant in Palmdale, CA.
Listed on the menu as a Belgian-style beer from Italy, I was intrigued. The appearance was good for a tripel or blond; crystal clear and light golden color with moderate head. The aromas were appropriate for those styles, with bready malt and some bubblegum and Belgian yeast notes, but there was an odd herbal note as well. The flavors also had good building blocks for a Belgian blond, but there again was something herbal and also slightly skunky. The body was light, with plentiful carbonation, mild hops bitterness and low alcohol presence for its strength.
I'm glad I tried this beer, but I had to wonder if excess age or poor handling during importation had affected its freshness. It seemed like it was a well-made Belgian blond or something like it, but the keg I had may not have been at its best. It also could have been poor tap-line hygiene, since this is a very good restaurant, but beer doesn't seem to be a big focus for them.

Birra dell'Eremo "Fuoco"
€4 / small glass on tap @ Beer House Club, Firenze, IT
Look: Slightly hazy deep gold beneath a short head of creamy white foam. Good to very good head retention and lacing.
Smell: Golden malt, apple-like fruitiness, spicy Belgian yeast phenols.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma with a firm bitterness and dry finish. It lingers, mildly spicy. The alcohol never shows but you can sense it's there.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp.
Overall: A nicely done take on the Belgian Tripel style.

On-tap at Wursthaus, this Italian tripel is smooth and light with a boost of Mandarin peel, especially in the nose. The taste is a little more balanced, as a touch of spice comes along. Italian beers can be fun, and Fuoco was.

Chill hazed amber with a small white colored head.
Smells sweet and fruity with lots of honeysuckle scent. Coriander is fairly aggressive here. Powdery yeast scent and raw black pepper. Fainter scents of pear and even fainter cinnamon.
Starts out mildly sweet and fruity, mostly pear. Apple skin taste and a slight sour taste. Mildly bitter. Fair amount of honey taste. An accurate description is honey on pears.
Mouthfeel is good.
Overall not bad but I know where to find a better Tripel when I want one.

Purchased and consumed on 10 Jan 2017 - 16.9oz bottle - poured into snifter glass. Freshness date is September 2017.
Extremely small amount of foam, what there was disappeared quickly. Little to no lacing when swirled. It has a faint aroma of sourdough, lemon. Similar taste, seems low on carbonation(bordering on flat). Semi-clear if poured slowly, I gave the bottle a slight swirl on a second pour to bring out the yeast sediment that is typical for this style. Result is a murky rust orange color. I'm not sure if the long trip from Italy to California caused this to be a bit less than awesome, I'd be tempted to try again sometime down the road - but this bottle was fairly uninspiring.
