Feierabendbier (FIRE - AH - BEND - BEER) "The well deserved beer". Literally translated as the"celebration-after-beer" this German Style Pilsner was brewed to honor the manual labor fundamental to Trappist monastic life. Brewmaster Larry Littlehale brewed in Germany for decades before joining Spencer and introducing the feierabendbier concept as a tradition to close the work day together. 4.7% ABV, Pilner malt, Noble hops.

Bottle from Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont, poured into tulip glass on Friday night with pizza. German style pilsner sums it up exactly.

Light grain and noble hop aroma, pours a slightly hazy straw with a dusting of white head. Lively carbonation, and a light body make it a nice refreshing beer. Light malt notes, fading to a floral hop note with light bitterness. A very solid pils.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This decent lager pours a
hazy pale golden color with a moderate head of white foam that
settles to a thin ring, subtle pool, and showcases some light lacing.
Nose of moderately heavy grain notes, subtle lemon zest, and light
herbal notes. Flavors follow the nose with a pretty strong grain note
with touches of the whit style in there minus the banana notes with
touches of lemon zest and herbal hops that are a touch bitter. Nice
mouth feel; medium light body, medium carbonation, and a herbal
hop and grain note on the finish.

Overall, a decent lager, but not what I would expect from a brewery
that i am fond of. More of a Belgian pale with pilsener notes.

A crystal clear light yellow with a dense, off white head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great. The nose is a great blend of soft, doughy malt, lemon and mildly earthy hops, and just a hint of yeast. The palate opens softly bitter with mint, herbs, lemon balm with a pleasing oily resin hop character. This is followed by a blend of dough and pilsener malt character. Drying, creamy and beautifully soft on the finish, this beer is light in body and softly carbonated. Excellent.

For a pilsner this is pretty good. I was expecting Belgian ale trappist but it was more of a German pilsner which of course says so on the bottle. Very hoppy for a pilsner almost tastes like a session. This is a good beer for IPA and session fans when you want to sit back and enjoy a pilsner. Has a floral, herbal flavor with mild tongue numbing hops. Very drinkable and great summer brew.

12oz bottle, best before 11/09/17. Date stamp F1 12:40. Served in a 0.2L Rastal pokal glass after mowing the year. A well deserved beer indeed.

Appearance: Clear pale gold. Thin ring of foam with some small amounts of lacing noted.

Smell: Lightly bready with a bit of a floral smell, and just a bit of some underlying herbalness. With a swirl, leafy, grassy, noble hops - much more like a pilsner.

Taste: Clean taste up front, transitioning to a a crisp malt and then a lingering noble hop bitterness. Fits the style quite nicely.

Mouthfeel: A bit sticky on the teeth. Carbonation a bit on the light side. Dry finish.

Overall / Drinkability. A good full flavored pilsner. But I find one per evening is enough. Bottle conditioned so be careful at the end of the pour or you'll get all the yeast which changes the flavor of the beer and makes it more citrus like and less of a pilsner.
