Limited release of 60 cases/550 bottles. At Table & Vine in West Springfield MA for $14.99.
Bottle #230, as shown in photo. Deep yellow, very cloudy beer with a two finger head that got rocky and left a lot of lacing on the glass.
Aroma started with pine and moved into apples and tropical fruit. Some vanilla and oak was noticeable, but no bourbon from the barrels. The hops probably overpowered it. After sitting a while the scent became quite floral.
Taste started with deep rich pine hops, followed by a strong backbone of caramel malts. Oak wafted in. The alcohol was quite prominent at first but as it warmed it mellowed out. There was a little breadiness, and it ended with a long bitter finish.
Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy and well carbonated. Pretty good.
Overall a nice beer and one I am glad I tried. Now I have to get their regular IPA to see how the barrel aging changed its character.
