Had on tap at the brewery.
On arrival, a thin fine head was present that over a few minutes dissipates to a thin covering and leaves a bit of lacing. Body isn't completely clear, but is pretty close and is a dark reddish amber.
Aroma is subdued and carries bright fermentation character thay doesn't match the style. A slight caramel maltiness and sweet ale character hides beneath. Aroma improves as it warms.
Taste loses any odd flavors and is a sweet bready malt bomb as a good Irish red should be. A touch of fruity esters bring a raspberry bread with caramel sort of flavor, but emphasis on caramel and malt.
This beer is crushable and very smooth. No harshness and a very soft mouthfeel. Light carbonation, and refreshing in a laid back warming sort of way.
Overall this beer is very nice. The malt is there with some nice British ale character and a good but balanced sweetness. Despite all that it's super drinkable and refreshing.
