Deep amber color, much darker than most Oktoberfests. Clear. Rim bubbles for a head. No lace.
Strong sweet caramel smell—very much like the versions from Germany, not America. No notable hop.
Very sweet for the style which creates a thick body (further enhanced by the lower carbonation level). The sweetness sticks through the aftertaste. It is reminiscent of toffee—a bit too much for me or for the style. It’s approaching Scotch Ale flavors.
