Pours a slightly hazy copper colour with a finger thick white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving a ring around the glass. The nose shows some earthy hop and a slight maltiness but not much else. The taste has a earthy grassiness and piney hoppiness with only malts around the edges. The mouthfeel is in the mid range but the bitterness hangs around for a while.

Appearance - Pours a rusty copper with two fingers of billowy head.
Smell - citrus hops, grapefruit peel, bready caramalts, tropical fruits, orange.
Taste - Weak hit from the citrus hops followed by the grapefruit peel, tropical fruits, orange. The bready malts help to round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a lingering bitterness alongside a malty sweetness.
Overall - An IPA that has the elements in place. I expected a little more hop character to shine through in the beginning as opposed to the end in the finish. Some minor adjustments to the hop profile would make this a true winner.

650 ml bottle bought direct from the brewery at Lonsdale Quay for $6.75. They also have growlers available, or you can buy beer by the glass if you prefer to drink it in the tasting room. I'd never heard of this brewery until I stumbled upon them during a trip to the Lonsdale Quay Market. Apparently they opened in mid-December of 2013. Another new brewery in the lower mainland!
Info from the bottle:
Unfiltered and unpasteurized. 8% ABV, 79 IBU.
"A special brew designed to satisfy the discerning IPA lover. Generous hop additions combine with a solid malty backbone to provide great body and a fine creamy head.
Ingredients: Love, water, malt, hops, yeast."
A: Quite dark for an IPA. A dark, cloudy amber with lots of tan head, gradually falling in on itself, creating lacing down the sides of the glass. Plenty of visible carbonation too.
S: Big citrus aroma. Grapefruit, lemon, orange. Tropical fruit.
T: A good bitter kick without being overly bitter. A little bit piney, grassy, with citrus flavours.
F: Creamy, bitter finish.
O: A very nice IPA.
