Not an IPA. Not a regular Pale Ale. Its a DOUBLE at 8.2%. This beer focuses on the balance between the Hops AND Malt. This beer is a surprising crowd pleaser.

Caramel colored with the faintest of haze. Moderate head but it lasts throughout the tasting and leaves sizable rings after each sip.
Mild malty sweetness with a lavender/white pepper spice in the background.
Some toasted crystal malt flavor up front. The white pepper comes in as the hoop butter bite. Neutral to rich body with a slightly elevated carbonation level. Moderate length aftertaste with bitterness lingering longest.

Every summer my wife and I take some vacation time and stay on the sea coast in maine.
My memories of this beer were from July 2014. We toured and sampled/bought @ the brewery in York.
In 2014 dipa was catching on in Vermont. By that I mean less then a dozen breweries were releasing them on a year round basis and the style was for better words all over the place. (Not meant in a bad way)
When sampling this beer I was impressed by how zesty and earthy smelling it was for being a single hops recipe. At this point in time I had connected that range with very hazy ipa's with mixed brews and dries.
This beer poured Amber/honey clear but had the traits I had seen from much darker and hazier brews.
Mango, lemon and a well placed earthy bite from the hops are my memories of taste.

Picked-up a four-pack of cans at Kappy's in Norwell for about twelve dollars. Have had brews from this brewery before, but not this brew. Very nice brew, like the crystal hops.

Thank you to SawDog505 for this can.
A - Nice clear copper/amber colored pour with dense, thick, sticky white lacing.
S - Nice balance in the nose between citrus, malt, and light floral.
T - Balanced all the way across the board with nice spicy citrus pine, light pepper, resiny pine, extra light caramel malt base, and light graininess. Working through the can, the peppery spice starts to build momentum while still maintaining nice balance.
M - Thick medium body
O - This beer is underrated, it's "old school Northeast" and done very well. If anything falls flat, it's the nose. Otherwise, this beer is rock solid.

Poured on draft at The Union Diner into a 12 oz snifter. Pours a very attractive Amber orange, with a 2 finger head that leaves behind thin lines of lace, nice.
Smell is apricot, papaya, pine resin, hard candy, and grapefruit rind.
Taste follows follows apricot, hard candy, pine, and some grapefruit, maybe a little caramel.
Mouthfeel is big and sticky, plenty of life, a tad dry, and goes down fairly easy for 8.2% ABV.
Overall much more West Coast than east, but a nice beer, more malty than I prefer.

Bought a can of this beer at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. The beer has a slightly dark orange appearance with some bubbly lacing and not much of a head. Aromas are decent; a mixture of malts, caramel, and some orange citrus. Taste follows the nose with a somewhat sweet aftertaste with the citrus and malt mixture. Medium body but not too refreshing. Overall, enjoyed the appearance and aromas the most.
