An audible pop when removing the waxed cap leads to a predictably massive head. Good retention, but this certainly seems over-carbed, with about a 10-1 ratio of foam to body despite a careful pour.
Super roasty nose that prominently features peanut butter. It's pleasant, but mostly one-note, with traces of caramel and chocolate hiding behind the peanut butter. No hint of the bourbon aside from, perhaps, a touch of oak.
Too much bite on the palate; it lacks the smoothness and fullness of a solid imperial stout, especially for a milk stout. There is some creaminess going on, but you have to get past the cola-like bite first. Difficult to savor and chew due to the bite.
Flavor profile falls a bit flat, with plenty of peanut butter, a touch of bourbon, and some cola - and not much else. Traces of cream and chocolate malt.
Overall, this is a tasty beer, but far from world class, and ultimately pretty disappointing.
