Deep in Amish country, buggys and horse puckey up and down the highway from Iowa City.
Corner location with tinted windows. Metro industrial decor.
Kind of baffled by all the high reviews. Check a few reviews of their beer, pretty standard fare. Honestly the beer quality of a third of their beers were below average. Pilsner, red ale, and BA stout were borderline undrinkable. BA Dubbel was pretty good though.
The food here wasn't that great. Pizza crust was burnt on top and overly salty. The white bean app was ok, but heavy on hot pepper flakes which were not mentioned on the menu.
The atmosphere was ok, but pretty standard in the scheme of things. Upscale mass appeal pub fare. Service was friendly and timely, but they didn't know much about the beer. Samples were offered when I asked, but they didn't volunteer that as an option when ordering.
Overall it was a hit or miss experience, and I wasn't really impressed with the beer, food, or atmosphere.
Take all the high reviews with a grain of salt. If you're looking for a short detour from Iowa City, i'd recommend Big Grove in Solon all day long.

Great service and beer. All 6 of us from Arizona enjoyed this brewery thoroughly on a cool rainy May Day.

Located in an awesome, quaint little Iowa town. Beer selection and taste was awesome. Waitress and bartender was phenomenal. I tried everything for free with no issues whatsoever. I did buy a flight to start off, and they accidentally poured an extra beer and I volunteered to take care of it. Ambiance is wonderful in which bringing kids or going with just my beautiful wife would have both been enjoyable. I drove the 1.5 hrs to get here and totally worth it. My favorite beer was the Belgian wheat in which I brought home a growler, I just only wished it was half price Sunday.

This brewery is a gem in a small Iowa town, which luckily, I visit once or twice a year to see family and friends.
The array of taps is unbelievable. There is more selection than I've seen in any brewery I've visited, which includes some major breweries in Southern California.
A wide selection of styles ranges from light American lagers to Belgian farmhouse ales to wheat dopplebocks to imperial stouts to ciders and root beer. There are also many cask ales available from tiime to time on a rotating basis.
The food selection is awesome; brick-oven-fired pizzas, burgers, salads and more. Even the fried fare tastes fresh. The presentation is excellent, the serve time is as quick as I've seen, and the staff is more than willing to work with any special requests.
This will definitely be my go-to place whenever I'm in town.
