16oz can, split with the Mrs. in Bitburger 0.2l pokal glasses. Canned on 11/17/22. Mmmm....Donuts.
Appearance: Very dark brown with only a little bit of light coming through at the edges. Thick tan head that died back to a persistent thin tan skin of foam across the top. Lots of strands and islands of lacing noted.
Smell: At first, a very light aroma with a bit of cocoa powder and something metallic, but as it warmed up there was a definite vanilla note and a bit of cakey donut.
Taste: This is a solid stout base with donut flavoring. Roasted malt base with some notable bitterness tempered by some cake-like malt sweetness, which clearly comes from the donut mix. There is a bit of some burnt sugar in this as well at the finish.
Mouthfeel: Good thickness, light carbonation, dry finish.
Overall / Drinkability: I was honestly expecting something a lot more sweet, but instead got a solid American Stout with some sweet donut flavors for balance. I would not have minded a dessert stout here, but otherwise, it worked. This was extremely hard to find - I lucked out and managed to buy some right as it came out and it disappeared fast. I would not mind another, and it would pair well with dessert. I almost want to pair it with donuts should I ever be lucky enough to have it again.
