12oz can, poured in a Samuel Smith's stout glass. Canned on 06/28/23 16:30:02.
Appearance: Cloudy amber with a hint of purple to it. Thick white head with some islands of lacing.
Smell: Blueberry, and a bit of a bready smell.
Taste: Definite blueberry up front, along with some bready malt and just a bit of bitterness to counter the sweetness. The finish is where you taste the donut. If you've ever had a Bill's blueberry donut, you get a quick hit of the taste at the finish: blueberry, sugary, donut.
Mouthfeel: A little thin, good carbonation.
Overall / Drinkability: It's certainly a combination of a Bill's donut and a beer, but it's not as good as their original collaboration. The donut is there, but since the donuts at Bill's are sweet and filling, trying to make it a refreshing summer ale doesn't quite work. Still, I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't necessarily buy it again.
