Had this on cask at the local social club. It was the guest ale. House ales are Courage Best and Director's.
This is also a bitter, but quite different than any other I've had. Poured with a thin 1-inch head of white foamy bubble. Beer was a light brown with some reddish hues mixed in as well. Smell was quite typical of an English bitter.
The taste was unusual. It was much milder than most bitters I've had. Initial sip is nice and smooth. I know this sounds strange but I was picking up hints of mushroom in the finish. While that sounds disgusting, it actually worked in the aftertaste.
Lower ABV even than the already traditionally low ABV of around 4% found in most bitters--this one sits at 3.5 making it all the more drinkable.
