I love fishing. I love beer. I love English-Style/session ales. They say it’s an amber/red ale? Not sure. This is a well, put-together, insanely crushable, pub ale. If you like hops? Nope. Not for you. This is all about the malt/toffee/biscuity, sweet - yet not cloying at all, medium-carbonated, pounder. And when I say pounder? You can crush 2/3 16oz cans, before the party begins. Deceptively smooooth! I love this style. It’s no-nonsense that’s why it’s a fisherman’s pub ale. Highly recommend!

$3.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: Nice label. It really stands out on the shelf with its simple black and white design and drawing of a fish. It's poured a lightly hazy deep amber or copper color beneath a short head of off-white foam. The aroma is limited to some sweetish, lightly caramelish malt and a smear of leafy and grassy hops. On to the flavor... well, as usual, it follows the aroma. There are a little bit more hops there, and it's biscuity as well as caramelish, but there are no surprises here. I find the hops a little tea-like. I see this is listed on BA as an American Amber / Red Ale but in my mind it's really more of a British bitter. I'm not finding English yeast, but I'm not finding American hops either. And that's fine by me, I love beers like this. Moving on, it's light-medium in body, and soft and smooth with a moderate carbonation that explains why the head dropped so readily. There is some very nice lacing left behind though. I also see that it's listed as 5.0% but the can I have in front of me says 4.8% ABV. I'd prefer if it was a little lower than that even, but I understand that most Americans wouldn't be happy with that. I of course love my English ales and really enjoy some of the basic bitters and milds that clock in lower than that. Overall this is quite a lovely charmer. I could drink quite a few of these, even at 4.8%, and I guess that's the idea. Nicely done.

Love this brewery, but this one disappointed me .. Not really my style, so probably not a fair review to be honest .
