Pours orange with a clear translucency Lots of protein suspended in the liquid as particles. Head is two fingers of fluffy white foam with good retention. Aroma is spicy and mild grassy hops. Clove, Belgian yeast spice, and caramel add some nice punch to it, with banana for a little further sweetness. Flavor profile is spicy hops with clove and Belgian yeast spice just beyond. Caramel and molasses clings to the back end, ending it sweet. Less potent than the nose. Mouth feel is medium in thickness. Texture is frothy at first, that bubbles down to a smooth finish. Overall, Belgian notes are fair, and yet approachable.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 12oz can. Reviewed from notes.

There is the ghost of a tripel somewhere in this beer, but it has been all but drowned out by a headless, English Bitter-like libation. They really should pitch this as a beer of the bitter genre (with an unusually high ABV) and purge that whiff of a tripel from the brew. As it is, though, the beer is an unpleasant muddle. I recommend a hard pass.

New belgium has this beat hands down but couldn't resistfor the price and the fact that you can't find this style much.
