Brettanomyces is considered by some to be the outlaw yeast - potentially wild and invasive. Outlaws tend to run into the law, from time to time. Sometimes deserved. Sometimes not. This crisp, dry IPA grabs some of the outlaw's heart of gold with a refreshing, slightly funky grace, due to 100% Brett fermentation in oak barrels, that highlights the Mosaic, Cascade, and Palisade hops. This beer is not retired, got it from Four Saints today, canned on 3/31/19. Pours a hazy light orange color.
An aroma I have not smelled before, some hops in the background, but dominated by I guess Brett?
Brett overpowers the taste also, with hops again in the background. Definitely a bite to this one.
Pretty light mouth feel, kind of harsh on the backend. The overwhelming Brett follows to the aftertaste. I am not familiar with this style at all and do not know how it is supposed to taste, but I am not a big fan of this one. Rates a 4 out of 10 on the would you like to sit down with a 12-pack of this brew scale.

Thanks to nc41 for this one from NBS BIF#8. 16oz bottle poured into 10oz goblet. Poured a cloudy medium gold color with just less than 1/4 inch of white head that had low retention, and OK lacing.

Brett was certainly the dominant olfactory aspect. Behind that were some light grain and gentle hops. Pretty similar on the tongue, with the Brett being a bolder, the hops brighter, and a touch of oak showing up.

The body was the typical medium, and was clean, with a dry finish. Drinkability was very good, but I like Brett, so YMMV. Overall, a very nice brew. If I had a few bottles, i'd let some sit to see how the Brett develops.

A: Pours a relatively clear medium golden apricot in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate golden yellow + burnt orange colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a large patch of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of tropical/mango, citrus/grapefruit, and tropical/passionfruit hops with a moderate aroma of earthy funky brett and just a hint of biscuit + caramel malts.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of biscuit + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of earthy hay-like barnyard funkiness from the brett. Finally there are moderate flavors of tropical/mango, citrus/grapefruit, and tropical/passionfruit hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away quickly leaving a light lingering funkiness.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially slightly thin/watery with a light amount of dryness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink and very enjoyable with a nice amount of brett funkiness in an otherwise flavorful IPA (nice presence of hop flavors and aromas). Definitely worth grabbing and I love the bottle art tribute to Sun Studios record labels.
