“Hector Smiles—that’s a rare thing.” And this beer is the same.
Available ONLY during the performances of An Iliad, this double IPA is full of rarities that combine into a beer full of hubris, yet decent. Using the newly cultivated Cosmic Punch yeast strain, which takes seemingly mundane, everyday hops and unleashes the hidden potential, combined with Nectaron hops, the IT hops of the moment, we get a beer like none other. Smooth, heavy citrus, minimal bitterness, and delicious enough to tame the rage within us all.

Look: It pours hazy orange with a white head. It has good head retention.
Smell: The aroma has peach up front with berries and a bit of flower.
Taste: The flavors are quite strong with peach and a bit of dankness. There are some berry elements with lime. The are low levels of orange peel.
Feel: It has a medium full body with a finish on the sweet side.
Overall, this is a very flavor-able beer with the aromas being a bit muted.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/20/2022. Pours turbid orange/yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention. Dense soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas of big mango, pineapple, apricot, white grapefruit, orange juice, passion fruit, berries, wheat, dough, pine, herbal, grass, yeast earthiness. Taste follows with mango, pineapple, apricot, white grapefruit, orange peel/rind, passion fruit, berries, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, bread dough, cracker, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Balanced creamy/grainy malt and sticky/resinous/rindy hop mouthfeel. Long resinous drying finish, with mild astringency. Mild warmth of 8.1% and hop burn after the finish. Great juiciness of the Nectaron hops in combination with the Omega Labs Cosmic Punch yeast strain. (I've been wanting to try out their saison yeast for years btw). Very juicy in the nose with more of a dank/resinous taste following through. Very smooth and not overly aggressive. Really big fan, very impressive for a hazy/NE style DIPA.
