Bottle-conditioned beer obtained straight from the Pitfield's Beer Shop. The BB date is 01/06.

A: in a goblet it pours a slightly hazy, dark golden hue, with a nice frothy neck dissipating only slowly; gently-carbonated body.
S: upfront comes a strangely astringent, sour fruity aroma of green pineapple & lemon, way too sour for the nose of a normal, fresh beer, I believe... After two minutes of breathing, a deeper and better aroma comes through, with torpical fruit-flavoured candyish malts, sweet fresh lemonade-ish and pineapple-ish fruity notes, backed by a flow of refreshing, citrusy as well as floating flowery hops firmly at the back. Compared with the cask-version, this one is sharper, more sour, and unsettled, though a common element of hoppyness is not to be missed.
T&M: a sharp and slightly sour-juice kind of texture hits the mouth upfront, with an increasingly floral hoppyness which turns wamish and kind of "grain-powdery" on the palate; a little grainy in the aftertaste along with light bitterness and faint floral hoppyness, finished crisply. A flow of slightly chemical-yeasty flavour accompanies the palate all the way through. Overall the mouthfeel is soft, even a bit flat esp. where flavour is unfocused.
D: I think something has gone wrong with the bottle-conditioning condition, as it doesn't taste fresh and lively enough, with a thick yeasty flavour a dose too much. Not nearly as good as the same beer in good condition on cask.

Sampled on cask at the Wenlock Arms pub in London. 4.2% ABV.

This "light ale" (as the brewer calls) it poured a clear, amber color with white foam that settled. The smell was very light malt with a touch of sulfur and a hint of grain. The taste was malty and a bit "chalky" with very light hoppiness. There were notes of fruitiness and a very faint touch of butterscotch. The mouthfeel was smooth and dry with medium-light body and low carbonation. This was a nice bitter, though a bit thin on flavor.

This IPA was wonderful on cask. It's a nice golden colour with a nice white cap of foam. The aromas are all east kent golding hops with not much malt in the aroma at all. The taste is hoppy, but balanced very nicely by the malt profile. The mouthfeel is slick and crisp and the drinkability is great.
