cool name. i loved the handful of beers i had from these guys back in the day, so i was excited to get to sample a few newer ones recently with some new friends, one who brought these back from his colorado trip. this is one of the lightest, most drinkable imperial types ive had in ages, and that its a hazy type as well doubles the craziness, this is so easy drinking it scary, the proportions are magic and the hops restore my faith in what must be some of the recent classics, not different, just fresher, brighter, and better than most, they really should be proud of this, shows an expert level of skill in the brewhouse, such a rarity, especially in this style, this is the kind of thing that keeps beer drinking so fun and exciting after all these years. no darker than middle yellow, with a decent head despite the trek, and only moderate haziness, which i appreciate, especially in a double, not thick or unrefined looking in the least. citra seems to be here to me, nose and taste, and some juiciness thats through the roof, clementine, cantaloupe, lemongrass, and such a light malt base that they really can pop without being overdosed at all. the ferment is also exceedingly clean, so this is dry and easy and bubbly, just how it should be, delicate even for the style, they nailed this in every respect. the hops are familiar indeed, but the length they have here and how forward they are is what makes this stand out. elite level beer here, lucky to have been able to enjoy this, what a heroic effort! almost instantly became the standard others in this space will be compared to in my head...
