12oz bottle poured into a tulip
Bottled 2014
A- pours black in color with just a hint of light creeping through, one-finger foamy khaki head reduces to a ring
S- lot of rum on the nose, giving aromas of molasses, brown sugar and overripe bananas. Some pumpkin spicing pops up with aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg. Slightly ashy roasted malt gives undertones of chocolate, a bit of oak closes it out
T- bold and sweet rum barrel gives sweet molasses, tropical fruits and molasses. Mid-palate brings out some pumpkin spice notes with nutmeg and cinnamon leading the way. The finish brings out some chocolate notes, as well as roasted malt. Lingers of rum with light pumpkin spicing
M- medium body with low carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a slick finish
O- one for the rum fans, as it is very rum forward, an outstanding pumpkin beer

12 oz bottle, about 2.5 yrs old. Pours deep brown with fizzy head that fades quickly to a thin ring. Sweet rum candy spice aroma. Taste is full of pumpkin spice, sweet malt, touch of vanilla and plenty bourbon booze in the finish. Medium oily slick feel. Good imperial pumpkin stout, aged nicely.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #89 (June 2014):
Pumpkin, Spices, Rum, WOW
This isn’t just another Pumpkin Ale with spices. This big Stout has been aged in Appleton Estate 21-30 year rum barrels, which bumped the ABV by 3%. And it drops into the glass black with a creamy coffee head. Aroma is full of pumpkin pie spices, squash, roast, vanilla, rum, and cake batter. Body is smooth, but also lively, with flavours of tangy molasses, char, coffee, wood, roasted pumpkin, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, and dark fruits with a boozy rum back. This is a truly awesome, and most welcomed, twist on the whole pumpkin and spice beer thing. Find and try it now.
