Pours a deep, dark amber with a light tan head. Smells of caramel, lemon curd. Not much yeast character to speak of. Tastes of caramel and toasty malt There's some creamy lemon hop from the Sorachi Ace - too subdued. Almost feels like an English ale yeast - not a whole lot of Belgian character. Mouthfeel is chewy with great carbonation. Not too sharp, not too dull. Underwhelming overall, but not too bad.

A: Quick-dissipating light tan head. Dark reddish-brown but fairly translucent.
S: Bright citrus, slight Belgian dark fruit yeast. Not much malt or alcohol aroma considering the color & ABV!
T: At first, lemon zing and prune, then getting a little muddled. None of the umame I often get with dubbels, but a slight metallic aftertaste. Dry.
M: Medium-low carbonation. Thinner than most Dubbels I've had.
O: Glad I tried this for its novelty - gives me ideas to brew some beers highlighting and complementing Sorachi Ace hops.

Pours a dark amber/reddish color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is minimal. Lacing is decent. Has a somewhat darker malty aroma, but tropical fruits predominate. Some floral component as well. Darker malty taste with a moderate peppery bitterness and a tropical fruit aftertaste. Very, very mildly astringent if at all. Decent tasting beer. Flavorful and quenching. Light bodied. Not what I would typically expect from a Dubbel but definitely has a Belgian feel.

Got this because of the good impression left by Brooklyn's Sorachi Ace Saison. That was nice and crisp and lemony. I'm interested to see how this hop fits in a Dubbel.
L: Dark amber. Small head of white. I like the bottle label of the icon series; red foil lettering on black background. Classy.
S: Malty, but with that hint of fruit. Intriguing. I'm hooked.
T: Interesting. Not bad. The hop comes through and lingers at the end. Very lemon - like zing. The front is more or less typical of the style. Hop-heads may really enjoy this. To me it's just okay. Not bad though. Definitely different.
M: Lighter than a typical Dubbel.
O: A nice variant of a style I really enjoy. It's strange having this hop flavor in a dark beer, which may be throwing my senses (not a big black IPA fan).

12oz bottle with twist-off cap bottled on poured into a snifter

Appearance: Pours a deep ruby with 1 finger of head

Smell: Belgian yeast esters and some clean grain and clove aromas

Taste: Clove and yeast with some lemon and citrus from the hops in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium and lighter than the ABV would suggest

Overall: While not my favorite of the ICON series, I appreciate this as a very drinkable belgian dubbel.
