Sorachi Ace Dubbel Aged in Red Wine Barrels with Brettanomyces and Raspberries
Bishop’s Barrel No. 20 continues to expand on our wine inspired beers. For this release, we adapted BB16 - a Belgian-Style Dubbel aged in Red Wine Barrels with Brettanoymces - and expanded on it by adding a small amount of raspberries, which was added to every third barrel.
The resulting beer pours a ruby/blood red hue with a sandy colored head. Dark fruit, red wine, and an earthy/spiced funk are pronounced in the aroma with subtle notes of cherry almond in the back. The flavor is candied dry fruit upfront, with an oak and wine finish. It finishes dry with a slight tartness and medium body.

This was a good one, I will definitely get it again. I was wanting a little more, overall the taste was smooth and had a nice sweetness. The color was nice and the aroma was lacking in the tartness that you get in the flavor in the middle. The barrel isn't as president as I was looking for. Overall good

L-Pours a ruby red lacy headed beer with low carbonation.
S-Brett, fortified wine/red wine, pickle, bubblegum, and grape. Smells super funky and great.
T- Earthy undertones with a sour Brettanomyces finish. Some cracker, a little bubblegum of course, wine and cherry? There's a definite funky finish as well.
F- Overall decently dry finish. Low carbonation as well. Fits the flavor of the beer.
O- Once again another solid beer from Saint Arnold. Extremely well made Dubbel. I haven't had a bad thing from this brewery. Too bad this is a one time thing... I've enjoyed every sip. If you can grab this limited addition beer, do yourself a favor and get it. It's a good one.

Serving: 12 oz bottle poured into a Riedel Vinum Bordeaux glass.
Appearance: Hazy ruby-brown with a short head of tan white and small spots of lace.
Smell: Vinous fruit aroma with spicy farmyard funk of Brett.
Taste: Layered palate of earthy, spicy hops and yeast, sweet raspberries, red wine acidity and oak.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body and soft, creamy carbonation.
Overall: Pleasantly complex without being assertively tart or wild; the Brett and raspberries layer nicely over the base Sorachi Dubbel.

A: Dark caramel and burgundy tones with off white head.
S: Red wine, grape, tart lemon, earthy Brett, sweet and tart cherry, plum, oak, strawberry fruit snacks
T: Huge cab sav, earthy Brett, mineral, light oak, hint of bitterness, balanced cherry fruit snack on finish, caramel, red apple, grape soda
M: Medium with that wild Brett carb
O: The base dubbel isn't really peaking through but it's probably for the best. Alcohol is very well hidden. Wine notes are up front and may not jive with some people.
