All In On Hops! Our newest year round release, Double Down, is our latest take on a double IPA. It is neither of the West Coast or East Coast, but features elements of both approaches to IPA.

For this beer, our focus was to create big tropical and melon notes while integrating bitterness rather than it being a focal point. To accomplish this, we used late kettle hop additions and Incognito, an all-natural hop product that delivers highly concentrated flavor and aroma. The hop bill includes Pahto, Citra, Citra Incognito, Mosaic, Mosaic Incognito, and Galaxy. The result is aces.

Bitterness: 71 IBU

12 oz can.

Appearance: Golden glass, sports a white head that fades, but leaves some lacing.

Aroma: Classic DIPA, sugary base malt, lots of citric hop notes, almost perfumed.

Taste: Clean base, lots of hop flavors, mostly west coast citric, pine, not much bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Slightly oily, medium body, medium carbonation, pretty clean finish

Overall: Very nice IPA, hoppy, west coast, low bitter, clean base, lots to like. I just got the single, will look for more.

On tap at the source.
Deep amber bordering on copper with a creamy frothy bone white head that persists. Spicy onion and citrus and tropical fruits against a bready lightly toasty malt backbone. Light alcohol notes, really tasty.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a small head of off white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a light level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heavy of a citrus smell, being a mix of grapefruit and orange. Along with these smells comes a rather strong showing of melon and tropical fruits with mango, pineapple, and papaya all there. Other aromas of pepper and some bready smells mix in, and with a bit of herb and pine, a rather inviting aroma is produced overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready and caramel heavy flavor mixed with some of the tropical fruit that was in the nose (tangerine, pineapple, and papaya). Along with these flavors comes a bit of grapefruit and some earthy hops both of which create a base hop flavor. As the taste advances some floral hop flavors join in, all while the tropical fruits get stronger and are joined by some light fruit flavors of grape juice and a of showing of honeydew melon. A surge of tangerine and a touch of grain and pepper come at the very end, leaving one with a rather sweet and smooth, moderately hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – the body of the brew is medium to light for a 9.2 % abv. brew with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. For the sweet mixed with the moderately hopped nature of the brew, the feel made for a very easy drinking and approachable drinker. Almost dangerously so.
Overall – A rather nice, fruit heavy, and moderately hopped IPA with a very easy drinking nature and feel. One I would certainly do again!

This is just a bi too sweet for me. The can was marked May 2022 so maybe some of the hop character faded .

Nice pour. Golden yellow color with fluffy white head and good curtain lacing. Piney smell with some orange. Flavor of candied oranges, vanilla, and lime. Don’t think this is a beeri would get again.

L: Pours a transparent amber color with a tall beige head with great retention.
S: Smells super piney upfront, nice amount of malts, citrus fruits.
T: Follows the nose, the pine resin flavor from the hops is balanced really well with the malty backbone.
F: Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, coarse, biting.
O: Balanced DIPA, I will definitely buy this again.

Pours hazy and gold into my mug, but with a robust fluffy head that stays awhile. Nice.
Nose is citrus, maybe a hint of melon.
Taste is mostly melon/ honeydew. It’s a one-note thing, kind of extra-sweet, but good. There is pine woods in there too, but the melon overtakes it in the end IMO. Any bread is soaked in the sweetness of the honeydew.
Mouthfeel is creamy & full, syrupy and with ample carbonation.
It’s interesting, and I wish it had more of some additional flavor note to counterbalance the syrupy melon note. The bitterness factor still works well here.
A couple of weeks later as I came back to try another from the 6-pack I had originally picked up, I’m even more underwhelmed. There’s kind of a mineral-like bite to the overall thing. Sweet/ mineral/ then melon fruit. Not my favorite profile. I prefer this brewery’s Endeavor DIPA which they apparently retired. If it was to replace it with this( I couldn’t imagine why.

Serving: 12 oz can ("canned on 02/24/21") poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Appearance: Pours clear, golden yellow, with a tall effervescent head of white bubbles and streaky lace.

Smell: Fruit leaning towards melon and stone fruit, backed up by a some grapefruit citrus, bready malt, and pine resin.

Taste: More melon, stone fruit and citrus rind open the flavor, balanced nicely by a moderately malty body and some pine spiciness. Bitterness is pronounced, but balanced by the depth of other flavors.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, smooth almost creamy, and moderately carbonated.

Overall: A very drinkable, balanced DIPA, almost unassuming for its higher ABV and heaving hopping. Comfortably in SA's wheelhouse, and reminiscent of Endeavor DIPA (maybe just a little smoother with more contemporary hop profile).
