Aging our Commitment Imperial Stout in a blend of Kentucky bourbon barrels for 15 months created a grandiose beer in all aspects. Showcasing notes of rich figs, fresh vanilla, ripe strawberries, toasted oak, and dark chocolate, this beer wields a dense, silky texture that grips the palate softly. Yet even with such bold flavors, it is remarkably balanced and drinkable, making this 2021 release a suitable toast to 27 years of craft brewing at Saint Arnold.

Enjoyed this beer from tap, poured into a snifter. Dark brown, essentially black. Small brown head with little lacing. Very boozy smell and taste. Heavy on this but there is a refreshing fruitiness about this beer that could be dangerous given its ABV. Dark chocolate and molasses. Vanilla with a hint of strawberry. Really very tasty. Warm and comforting.
Today was bookended by two excellent imperial stouts. Life is good!

Procured from a trader in Texas. Placed in a fridge for about 40 minutes before pouring. Poured up nice and sizzly with quite an argument from the foam hissing at me as it dissipated, deep dark brown with a khaki head. Not many people have reviewed this beer, let me be among the first. After it was all said and done, there wasn't any head left at all just a minutely thin ring curving around the glass. Smell of deep chocolate and cinnamon, slightly stinging the nose, bourbon heavy in the nostrils. Taste is of chocolate, roasted coffee, char, leather, sweet cinnamon and sugar. Quite tasty, very thirst quenching. Mouthfeel is saucy and quite bubbly. Overall this is an absolutely tasty beer, I'm having it on a Saturday night as my second high powered beer of the night. I must say I'm delighted to try it, and think it's great.

A little too much bourbon in this one, makes it extremely boozy and overpowers the otherwise tasty base beer. Not bad for the price, but definitely better examples out there.

A: Pours an opaque black color. A small tan head forms, which sticks throughout. Light lace is left behind.
S: A huge aroma. Big oak, vanilla and dark baked bread. Roasted malts, with coffee and chocolate. This is a really intense nose.
T: Like the nose, all the barrel, oak, vanilla flavors are up front. Baked bread, with a toasted flavor going on. There is a substantial sweetness, but that doesn't get in the way of anything. Like dark chocolate, and even a bitterness lingering. Lots going on here, and it is all really well balanced. Even with the strong and warming alcohol presents.
M/O: A full, viscous body of coarse. Moderate carbonation. A bit of stickiness, which leads to a smooth body. Certainly a sipper, and the alcohol is apparent, but more warming and inviting that anything.
This is a huge Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, but one that I can enjoy. Normally I would say that Saint Arnold makes another balanced offering. While it is in that Saint Arnold "balanced" vain, in that nothing really asserts itself over anything else. Its also very intense, and drinks more like a Port IMO. A great sipper with lots going on.

Very dark, as dark as soy sauce. Mine literally had no head, but I didn’t pour aggressively either. Too me, the smell was incredible, chocolate syrup, coffee, cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla.
The taste was intense, the chocolate was upfront with the cinnamon and vanilla second. I didn’t really get a big taste of bourbon, I did detect the alcohol though.
$8 is a lot for a 12oz bottle but this stuff is well worth it, I thought it was outstanding.
