The newest release in our Small Batch Series is Hop Quality Group #3 IPA. Brewed with the third varietal in HQG’s Hop Breeding Program, this IPA features bright notes of apricot and peaches, while a subtle honey malt character is balanced by a soft bitterness. The flavor of this 6.6% ABV beer reminds us of a familiar fruit cocktail, which is to say – it’s delicious. This limited-release beer is available on tap only at the Saint Arnold Beer Garden & Restaurant while supplies last.

A: Pours a hazy golden orange color. A white head forms, but recedes quickly. Plenty of lace is left behind.
S: Simple but aromatic. Peach and tropical fruits. The fruity character is the show, but enjoyable for what it is.
T: Again, that peachy, tropical fruit flavor that follows the nose. A bit of berries. Light grains and cracker like malts. Not much bitterness lingering.
M/O: A medium body with moderate carbonation. Semi sweet from the fruity hop character, but still manages to finish on the dry side. Not hard to drink at all. I could have another if at the brewery.
This is probably closer to a NEIPA, but I'm not really sure, and I'm done trying to parse what an IPA is and isn't. Somebody can send an update if they want. Anyway, a nice simple fruity character. I wish there was more bitterness and a crisper bite. Other than that, a typical solid offering from Saint Arnold.
