A: Pours a dark brown/nearly black with some reddish colors around the edges. A beige head forms with good retention and lace left behind.
S: Toasted and lightly roasted malts in the nose. A bit of herbal tea and earthy hop character as well. Simple and enjoyable.
T: Follows the nose with the toasted and baked bread like malts. Just a touch of a more roasted heftiness. A touch of bakers chocolate, and earthy hops in the finish.
M/O: A light to medium body. Crisp carbonation that is very clean and finishes dry. A nice dark lager that I can drink a lot of when at the brewery.
Another special German lager release leading up to their Oktoberfest celebration this year. The pale Festbier has been my favorite of the bunch. Though all are quality, and hope to see all stick around as at least brewery only releases. If not a wide release. This is a very nice and well done example of the style.
