Brand new for 2024 is Bourbon Barrel Pumpkinator with Cacao Nibs, Vanilla, and Coffee. After we aged the base beer in bourbon barrels for a year, we took it to the next level by adding a trifecta of spooky flavors. When the night gets cold, reach for this cozy blanket in a bottle. At 13.4% ABV, both barrel aged variants are even bigger than the original.

Pumpkinator (Bourbon Barrel Aged With Cacao Nibs, Vanilla, Coffee) (2025) from Saint Arnold. 12 oz bottle from Spec’s # 100, SAT, TX. $8.63 (including tax) ($0.719/oz). Stored at room temperature in store and at 40 degrees after purchase. Reviewed 11/12/25, review 3655. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
“2025” on the label, but otherwise undated. Stored at home at 37 degrees F. Served at 56.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 61.1 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Deep Amber, (SRM 15), hazy.
Body – Brown (SRM 20), opaque. Under direct light, the same, with a precipitate visible through the glass. When rear-lite, opaque but amber at the edges.
Head – Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour). Biscuit, average retention, leaving an 0.2 cm crown, with a large center island.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.75 – Weak chocolate, no pumpkin, no coffee, no vanilla, no bourbon, no alcohol (12.8% ABV according to the label).
Flavor – 3.75 – Slightly sweet with chocolate and vanilla. No pumpkin, no coffee, no bourbon or barrel. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Uncomfortable gastric warming.
Palate – 3 – Medium: Slightly creamy: Soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the BA style description.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Fortunately, the obligatory drowning of flavor in “pumpkin spices” did not occur in this beer, allowing some of the other flavorings to come through. Unfortunately, the bourbon and pumpkin seem to be absent as well.

Bottled Drank 10/23/24.
Pour is black with a cinnamon colored head that doesn't last too long before fading to a ring around the glass.
Nose is balanced - vanilla, coffee, cinnamon, ginger, the typical pumpkin pie spices, but more subdued.
Taste is vanilla, ginger, pumpkin pie upfront, hints of bourbon swell in the middle before rounding out with coffee and a lingering dark chocolate on the finish.
Smooth, full bodied. low/moderate carbonation.
Delicious beer another hit from Saint Arnold. And, in true Saint Arnold fashion - a very balanced, well made beer. Nothing dominates.
