Birra + is the number one destination for craft beer in the Pigneto area, and perhaps all of Roma! I love the character, feel, and friendliness at Il Serpente, and they've got great European beers at Luppolo 12, but only Biira + has a great selection of both Italian and international beers (with some from the U.S. that I can't even get in Pennsylvania).
It's a small but nice looking place (12 seats in front, 14 in back) with a modern looking interior that still retains some of its traditional charm via its brick archway. Otherwise it's just grey and white, but the tattoo designs displayed on the wall give it some character. Of course all the character the need is in the beer!
There are 9 taps and 1 hand pump pouring mainly local beers like Opperbacco, L'Olmaia, Bibibir, and Toccalmatto. But they also have at least 88 different beers available in bottles and cans including American and European beers (Port Brewing, Arbor, Mission, Lost Abbey, Kuhnhenn, Mikkeller, Moor, De Molen).
There's no food, but it's definitely worth a stop, and one of my favorite restaurants, I Porchettoni is not far away.
