Pours a very dark brown with a finger of khaki foam. Light fog to the transparency. Aroma brings vanilla bean forward quickly. Mild coffee, chocolate, and even more light caramel develop some sweetness with toasty, roasty, and mild nutty malts establishing a base. Flavor profile brings vanilla beans forward again, swirling with coffee, chocolate, and toasty and roasty malts. It's smooth. Sugary start, but it gets soaked up by the late malts well. Mouth feel is medium-thick. Texture is creamy with just an edge of grit. Overall, it's certainly easy to see why this is a local favorite. It's an easy drinking dark beer that balances sweetness with a creamy texture.

Poured from the tap at Bar Louie in Huntsville. The appearance is a dark brown to black with a thick tan head. The aroma is sweet vanilla and malt. The taste matches the nose. a very good winter brew.

I tried this at the brewery...it poured a clear nearly opaque dark with white head that did not leave any lace. The scent had hints of vanilla. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a good beer.
