The appearance was a dark brown close to black in color. Not much of a head and barely any lace. It smells like burnt toast, mild roasty coffee and some sweet herbs. Tastes like burnt coffee, some toast and dried out dark fruits. The feel was between light and medium bodied with some easiness to it being taken down. Good carbonation. Mild finish of roast, toast and dryness. Perhaps willing to down again if offered but wouldn't necessarily need to have again.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle from six-pack acquired from Maine Beer and Beverage Co. in Downtown Portland.
A- Dark brown with a slight reddish tint, some off-white head
S- Slight cocoa, burnt barley
T- Same as smell
M- Ok, little carbonation, creamy texture
O- One and done. A local beer for our stay in Maine. Nothing I would revisit, but still not the worst of the trip.

Poured on-tap at Bell The Cat in Belfast, the beer was served in a shaker pint. The beer is a dark, ruby highlighted coloring with a filmy, light-tan head that clings to the glass. Nose of roast coffee and chocolate, with hints of smoke. The beer has a bitter lean to it already. Flavors are rich and smoky, with a solid backbone of chocolate, molasses, and caramel, with hints of coffee bitter. Thin, crisp body with a bittersweet, baker's chocolate blend in the aftertaste. Bitter chocolate and coffee linger on a slightly dry finish. Tasty beer.

Poured into a pint glass. The head is very large. The color is very dark amber; when I hold it up to the light I can see through it.
The aroma is hoppier than I expected, with some mint like hop aroma. This is dominant; most of the malt aroma is hidden.
The taste is really really bad. Just awful. metallic tartness in the finish dominates the bland malt flavor. This doesn't just miss the mark, it tastes bad.
The mouthfeel does nothing to enhance. This is just sharply carbonated that enhances the metallic flavor.
Not good. DO NOT DRINK!

Acquired from svosie so a big THANK YOU goes out to her!!!
Poured in to a pint glass
A: This beer pours a ruddy, mahogany brown, with a two finger of foamy, khaki colored head. Head retains nicely leaving sheets of lacing on the glass.
S: Nose is nutty, grassy, citrus and a hint of chocolate.
T: Taste has an underlaying metallic flavoring throughout. Mixture of grain and light toasted notes at the forefront. Lighter chocolate and roastiness comes through in the middle though slightly weak. Finish has a grassy, light orange peel hop flavoring to it.
M: Lighter side of medium body, higher carbonation, crisp and clean body.
O: Goes down relatively easy, somewhat tasty, not filling, not much of a kick, average representation of style. I wouldn't seek this out, but would not turn it away, that being said, it's easily one to sit with as an alternative to the general BMC out there.

A very large foamy tight head off the pour with huge retention. Off tan brown and two fingers sits on top of a brown chestnut body with indian red hues on the edges. Huge cap on this, retention is impressive, giantclumps, foam hanging off the glass, redness unexpected. I call incredibly impressive looking beer but it seems like a porter on steroids, this is almost overkill.
Bouquet is eggs, yellow yolk mixed with a mild grain barley roast some milk chocolate opens up later. Egg thickness and scent is predominant at first, but with no sulfur. This is not a good bouquet at all. It is nothing I expect for a porter and it is not pleasing. With time the beer seems to open up and seems to get better slightly.
Taste is sour. Something is off. Roast like on finish with carbon like char, but a front palate that has a sour bent. Subsequent sips don't seem to bring the sourness back, leaving the better qualities of the brew to actually come to the front.
Overall this is a really strange beer and a weird tasting porter. I would have to give this a just under rating but this is one Jekyll and Hyde personality going on here, and I really could not see myself having this again.

Pours with a sudsy light beige head that collapses fairly quickly. The beer is a dark brown shoe leather color. A touch of light enters at the bottom of the glass. Lots of clumps of lacing.
Aroma is pretty assertive and certainly not surprising that it's malty and sweet. Lots of prune and molasses notes along with the roasted malt. There is a sharp sweetness in the end of the aroma.
Initial malty flavor gives way to a slight moment of roasty bitterness then falls off the table. Where is the end to the flavor? There is also a slight medicinal flavor here as well. Sadly, this is not getting better as I work through the glass.
Body is way too thin and the mouth feel doesn't match the style in my mind. Just too watery.
Not a very good porter.
